Hi! I’m a 19M working part-time in college. I don’t have much financial support from my parents, but I do get a good amount of money from scholarship refund checks. I make my entire year’s rent in one semester from my refund. My fall and spring refunds are the same (around $8000) and my summer ranges based on the number of classes I take. I would try to co-sign with my dad since he makes a decent amount, but his credit is bad so we’ve been struggling to get any pre-approvals from direct lenders. I go to school far from home and need a reliable car that i don’t have to do much maintenance for in the time that I have it. Do you guys have any tips for how to get lower rates and financing at my age for used/certified pre-owned vehicles (2018 and up, preferably 2018+ Honda Civic, 2020+ Kia Forte, or 2021+ Hyundai Elantra)?
Some more info: my income from work and my refunds are about $35k a year, I have a 740 credit score, and I plan on buying in South Florida.
Any tips and advice, thoughts, or opinions that you find helpful would be greatly appreciated. Also if there’s any other people who’ve been in my situation in the recent market, if you were successful, what did you do and what did you find useful??

Answer = " Altimeter will indicate 150 feet lower. " I understand why its is 150 feet, but why the indicated altitude decreases and doesn't increase 150 feet. As far as my understanding, as barometric pressure increases, the indicated altitude on the altimeter decreases, and as barometric pressure decreases, the indicated altitude increases. So if it decreases from 30.11 to 29.96... wouldn't the altitude increase changing the answer to an increase of 150 feet? Another similar question was: If it is necessary to set the altimeter from 29.15 to 29.85, what change occurs? With an answer of "700-foot increase in indicated altitude." If increasing barometric pressure from 29.15 -> 29.85, wouldn't that decrease altitude? The chart below in my eyes also shows that as barometric pressure decreases, you add altitude (28.0 = add 1824), not decrease and vise versa. Effectively the fight would be massively overhauled so that you can now pilot the ship....most likely the whole hunt and you are just barraging Zorah with front cannons and the dragonator all while avoiding Zorahs's attacks since he would now actually properly fight back.
In Hunts of 2 or more players there would be 2 ships, so there is always one pilot and a gunner as the gunners would have control of other cannons the pilot does not and are normally manned by Palicos and Humans on board.
Would this seem fun or would it still be kind've boring?
Also this could mean they could adapt this method to other sea or sand monsters like Nakarkos, Ceadeus, and the Morhans.

Cruisers are overpriced in the UK. In my price range, the only bike that has really been making me salivate is a gen 3 Honda Magna V45. Despite the high speed and high revs it still doesn't seem OTT as a first big bike.

I haven't played Classic since the FASA days. I had the box sets for Battletech and Citytech with little cardboard stands that had mechs pictured on them. We eventually had level 1, level 2, and level 3 rules but somehow I always liked the simplicity of level 1 the best. Today, I guess those would be eras, and so I guess that makes me a 3025 guy. I had a 3025 technical readout back in the day. That was the only one I had, so I ended up making a lot of custom mechs with my Total Warfare book. None of that stuff survived to the modern day, except for the cardboard hex maps that I tried to keep because they always seemed special.
A number of things got me interesting in starting up with Battletech again, most notably the pc game by Hairbrained Schemes, the MechCommander PC game, and the hype around the latest Mercenary kickstarter. I had purchased a couple salvage boxes already since I wanted to try painting them, just because mechs are cool. I looked into it a bit and found about Alpha Strike. At about the same time, my FLGS had an Alpha Strike demo. I attended, and bought Alpha Strike on the spot. Then I bought some forcepacks a couple weeks later.
So I'm a newbie Alpha Strike player painting up his first few lances of mechs. (6 mechs so far and counting).
Some of the cnanges in the hairbrained schemes PC game seem kind of neat, and I don't remember them from Battletech of ye olden days. I'm wondering if these rules were innovated for the PC game exclusively or if they were taken from the newer editions of the tabletop game.
Among the ones that come to mind:
- Side torso blowouts, ammo explosions, head hits, and falling down all cause pilot injuries.
- Lasers are inherently more accurate then other weapons
- Autocannons get a recoil penalty if it was fired in the previous turn.
- Weapons mounted in the arms are inherently more accurate than weapons mounted elsewhere.
- Machine guns and small lasers can be fired as part of performing a melee attack.

I have gotten bit by the 4k bug. New build has a 4090 + 7800x3D, so no worries for frame rates unless something catches on fire 🤷♂️.
I am happy with my current monitor which is a 27-in MSI MAG 274 QRF 165hz 1ms (non qd version). I've never been able to see any ghosting or blurring, and the contrast is good enough, even when I'm playing in a pretty dark room. Rtings it tested 1195:1 and I believe it, having used it for over a year. Input lag is undetectable, to me.
27 vs larger, doesn't matter, except bigger than 32 would be rough, I sit close and do not want curved.
120hz , 144hz, 160hz etc not a deal breaker. I play mostly ARPG like Path of Exile or D4.
I like the detailed reviews on Rtings, but there are several monitors they haven't gotten to yet. Idk if I trust Tom's, or ign or PC gamer, as much.
Thinking about: Optix MPG321UR-QD (adjusting color saturation does not bother me. Have 75in Samsung quantum dot tv, colors are pretty bright and we LOVE it)

I’m a regular Diamond solo Q’er up until this season because of time restrictions, but I’m going for Master this season because of the painfully easy grind with low time commitment. I am curious how many games it usually takes you to get to your desired rank? I only play about 2 or 3 hours a day, and I average about 150-200 games a season before I tap out at D4 or D3.
I’m not sure how realistic my goal of hitting Master is at this trajectory. I’ve been getting no bonus since Silver lol. If I’m dead set on getting there, should I be putting another hour or so in per day?

(CW/TW: anti-Black racism, racial stereotypes, minstrelsy) In the 4th episode of AS8 in Heidi, Kahanna and Lala's pilot challenge, their characters struck me as a little disturbing and in the spirit of making sure that I am staying aware of how media shapes our view on different non-white ethnic and racial groups and also staying focused in my approach to anti-Black racism I need to ask if others feel the same.
I don't know if Lala's choices in voice and makeup seemed to invoke images of minstrelsy and if Kahana being the beauty in a challenge where she is the lightest of the 3 Black contestants are things others picked up on or if I am reading too much into it.
This show has a history of pushing, if not demanding, that drag artists of color play into stereotypes. Season 3 is a huge example with Alexis Mateo. More on this can be read in "She’s Not Acting, She Is” by Sabrina Strings and Long T. Bui.

How do you deal with the anxiety regarding public speaking when presenting results of your program? Especially when it comes to media involvement?
I am currently working on a pilot funded by our local government and am getting ready to present data on the results of the first quarter of the pilot and am petrified, especially given the media.
