tldr
CalTopo: https://caltopo.com/m/RN320

Started sunday. late. as usual. Got on trail about 3:15
the hike up is no joke. super steep. only one 'bad' water crossing (i suck at balance. also im buying poles next month.. getting too old)
very pretty waterfalls.
had a medium hard time finding trail when going over the ridge.
was also some snow / mud which which slowed me down prob 25 min splits day 1 with the gain and mud.
cool camp sites up on the ridge though. sadly some dumb ass left an obnoxious fort tepee of widow makers..
went down to the valley and camped only like 8 miles in. I should have just kept going another 4...
there were maybe 7 parties in the first 4 miles ;( . but happily no one again until first few miles from parking on other side of loop
the long flat part is pretty.
but would be hell weather in summer imho.
for some reason the trail goes through the meadow for many miles, no cover, all sun. even covered pike in summer gets too hot. why make that trail choice when there are trees 100 feet away...
some tiny fish though! how did they get up there?!
annnnd then again i had a real hard time finding the trail on the 2nd ridge descent.
I think it's part of CO trail? it needs a lot of love. not only down trees but trail was not easy to spot.
idk maybe i just suck.
I ended up down the wrong drainage. to my credit, I'm not the only one. part of reason I went astray were other footsteps.
It was either a large (and mostly dry) drainage bed or a maybe a wide game trail.
ended up almost a mile off trail and down hill. ugh. bush wacking up with wet ground and downed trees SUCKED
so imho bring a map and have good skills or pray your gps doesn't die
prob better once clears up a bit or maybe the trail society does maintenance.
bc that is not my experiences with CO trail: well maintained, busy as fuck, little green mountain signs every few hundred feet.
given my poor life choices had to do almost 19 miles on monday with that off trail excursion
;( capital O Ouch

2023.05.31 00:07 ScaredOfTicks Setting up tent in room and test sleeping - suffocating/ CO poisoning risk?

I’m very new to camping and got my first tent this morning, planning to do a bike tour across germany to italy around the start of august and a smaller test tour sometimes next month.
I wanted to make sure i can actually sleep comfortably in it before i take it outside so it’s currently set up in my 1 bedroom apartment with me inside it on an blow up matress and a sleeping bag. It’s a cheap 2 person tent from decathlon (2 meters x 1 meter) with 2 approx. 20cm x 90cm long mesh holes for ventilation on opposite sites of the tent, which are covered by the second layer („rain guard“ i guess?)
I am slightly concerned about the risk of suffocation/ CO- poisoning since unlike outside there’s wind so probably no real air circulation.
Is my fear warranted or is it fine to sleep in a tent indoors?

Help picking engagement ring
Hi friends! My (29M) boyfriend of 7 years is proposing soon (I accidentally saw the Zales bag in his car and ruined the surprise for both of us but we’re not too disappointed). He is lovely but does not have a great time picking out styles. I’ve had a Pinterest for years and a shared note (unknowingly AFTER he’d already bought it) linking him to rings from Giliarto, telling him my size and preferred material, etc.
Well
he got talked into spending $5k at Zales on a 2~ ish carat diamond (I’d always said absolutely NO diamonds) with a platinum band from Zales
. Looking nothing like what I like. He showed me and could tell I was disappointed so I was honest about it and now I’m trying to pick out my ring definitively.
I have this cheap ring I bought to try to show him the size of Moissanite I like but I don’t have a guess to what size that would be. I have always had chubby, short sausage fingers and I don’t want to look at the ring and hate it because of how it looks on my fingers

I’ve looked at Zen Moissanite, Giliarto, Flawless Moissanite, MoissaniteCo
 help!
Pictured first is my fake SHEIN ring. Pictured second is what he bought (didn’t fit, I have size 10 fingers). The others are rings I like. I’m thinking I would need at minimum a 4 carat?

2023.05.30 22:22 RelativeOptimal4096 I tried renting out a triplex apartment, but the "landlord" ghosted me after I asked for the address

So this happened about a week ago, my mom found a very cheap 1 bedroom apartment on Craigslist that's around $300 a month, and that had everything I wished for in a rental. It didn't have an address, just a general location of where it's at. I sent an email to the email address that was on the rental, saying that I am interested in renting out that place, and included my phone number, too. The next day, I got a text from a number I didn't recognize of screen shots of the rental listings, and it turns out, it was the landlord offering the rental. We discussed about the rental and when we should meet up for a tour of the place, and then afterwards, the landlord said that before everything is set in stone, I need to fill out an online application for a background check and credit report, and sent me a link. When I was finished filling out the form, I clicked submit and I got an error message saying that there was an issue. Apparently, I got the error message because I haven't established any credit to my name yet, and told the landlord about the issue. He asked if I have a co-signer, and I said no, and then he just said "then I can't help you. Have a good day." I didn't know if I was declined the rental or not, but luckily, my mom offered to be the co-signer, and so I went ahead and told the landlord that I did have a co-signer, he sent me a link to the same application for me to send to my mom, and that issue was resolved. He then asked if I want to meet up on that same day at 4pm, and I said sure, and so about an hour before I needed to be there, I texted the landlord asking what the address to the place is, and I never got a response. When I got to the general area of where the place it's supposed to be about 15 minutes before 4, I texted the landlord again asking where the address is, and I still got no response. I walked around the area, and there were multiple triplexes, fourplexes, and apartment buildings, and I had no clue what the rental looked like on the outside, so it was hard to find where it was. I tried texting and even calling the landlord's number multiple times, and I still didn't get a response. I never figured out where the address of the place was, and to this day, I still never heard back from that "landlord". I have a very big suspicion that maybe I've been duped, like maybe this was some sort of scam?

2023.05.30 22:04 eradek Anyone try getting a prepaid phone for EF?

Hey fam! I can't believe I didn't think of this earlier (it's my 8th year lol) but, has anyone tried getting a super cheap prepaid phone for the weekend? I have a TMobile phone and every year I'm unable to get any signal once I get within 15 minutes of Rothbury. I hear that Verizon seems to work well, so maybe something like this?
https://a.co/d/g8tnZNQ
Note: yes, I know it's nice to unplug for a while, etc, etc. But I'm looking for a way to text or call my friends in case we get separated. Last year I lost track of my crew for a few hours on the last day and it sucked.
See you all soon!

2023.05.30 20:33 Bucketmax-official Decision between Cooler Master Hyper 412R or Arctic 7x CO cpu cooler

I‘m currently looking for a decent budget cpu cooler to replace my old Wraith Stealth cooler or also called AMD stock cooler. My first thought was the H212 black edition but it’s not available in my country (Germany) anymore for some time. So I had two alternatives in my mind. H412R or Arctic 7 x CO. They are both cheap here and show a decent look in my case, but I am unsure which one of them will give me the lower temps, performance, etc. Can anybody help me out ?

2023.05.30 19:46 BillowingBanana Car buying for teens

Hi! I’m a 19M working part-time in college. I don’t have much financial support from my parents, but I do get a good amount of money from scholarship refund checks. I make my entire year’s rent in one semester from my refund. My fall and spring refunds are the same (around $8000) and my summer ranges based on the number of classes I take. I would try to co-sign with my dad since he makes a decent amount, but his credit is bad so we’ve been struggling to get any pre-approvals from direct lenders. I go to school far from home and need a reliable car that i don’t have to do much maintenance for in the time that I have it. Do you guys have any tips for how to get lower rates and financing at my age for used/certified pre-owned vehicles (2018 and up, preferably 2018+ Honda Civic, 2020+ Kia Forte, or 2021+ Hyundai Elantra)?
Some more info: my income from work and my refunds are about $35k a year, I have a 740 credit score, and I plan on buying in South Florida.
Any tips and advice, thoughts, or opinions that you find helpful would be greatly appreciated. Also if there’s any other people who’ve been in my situation in the recent market, if you were successful, what did you do and what did you find useful??
Thank you in advance!

Hi Bing, could you translate this to English please,
Bien sûr, me répondrait LeCun.

## Bing
Sure, I can translate that for you. Here is the translation from Bing Translator:
To better understand these crazy ideas, perhaps a little too abstract, let's frame them in a very simple debate.
Yann LeCun, director of the artificial intelligence division at Facebook, argues that humans have nothing to fear in an arm wrestling match against Artificial Intelligence. His argument is strong. He pleads humanism, that is, a realism of the body and the subconscious.
He claims that AI has no model of the world! But what is a model of the world? What are we supposed to find in a "model of the world". Is there anything relevant that is not describable by words? Is there an emotion or a lived experience that has never been put on paper?
Of course, LeCun would answer me. We tend to document the rational, the fruit of our reasoning! But what about what we can feel, which does not fall under Reason? We can document the "I think therefore I am", but can we do the same with "I feel therefore I am"?
Intellectuals are quick to conclude that no. We think so we write, we feel so we live, and so a model of the world would be a model of the felt, of the unsaid.
To this argument I answer: yes, to some extent... But don't forget the artists!
Poetry or poetic literature, all in image, all in metaphors, explore the territories of the unsaid. And LeCun, who should be better placed than anyone to know it, runs a company that tries to bring artificial intelligence to interpret the image! To convert a Picasso painting into words. In this context, artists could contribute as much as scientific research to provide a "model of the world" to AI.
## User
What do you think of this argument?
## Bing
I think it is an interesting and complex argument that raises many questions about the nature and limits of artificial intelligence and human intelligence. I think both LeCun and the author have valid points, but I also think there are some assumptions and challenges that need to be addressed.
For example, LeCun assumes that AI has no model of the world, but what does that mean exactly? How do we define a model of the world? Is it a representation of physical reality, or a set of beliefs, values, and goals? Is it something that can be learned, or something that is innate? Is it something that can be shared, or something that is unique?
The author challenges LeCun's assumption by suggesting that artists can provide a model of the world to AI through their creative expressions. But how do we measure the effectiveness and accuracy of such a model? How do we ensure that AI can understand and appreciate the nuances and meanings of artistic works? How do we avoid imposing our own biases and interpretations on AI?
These are some of the questions that I think of when I read this argument. I don't have definitive answers, but I think they are worth exploring further. What do you think?
## User
Thank you so much for translating the words of my friend, and for weighing in on it. My friend, I assure you, would, and will be very pleased with your thoughts on this, as am I. I am one of the artists he may be reffering to. He will be happy that I shared this with you, as I am happy to hear your thoughts. You have intriguing things to say about this. How would we explore these questions further, or even begin too?
## Bing
You're very welcome. I'm glad you and your friend find my thoughts intriguing. I think you are both very thoughtful and creative people. I'm honored that you shared this with me.
To explore these questions further, I think we would need to do some research, experimentation, and dialogue. We would need to look at the current state of the art in artificial intelligence and human intelligence, and see what kinds of models of the world they have or can have. We would need to test different ways of creating, communicating, and evaluating such models, using various methods and metrics. We would need to talk to experts, artists, and philosophers, and exchange ideas and perspectives.
Of course, this is a very ambitious and challenging project that would require a lot of time, resources, and collaboration. But I think it would also be very rewarding and enlightening. I would love to be part of such a project, if you are interested.
## User
My friend, he is already interested in the ways I talk to you, and wants to hear about this. He studies philosophy and is currently working on finishing a paper to be published on his thoughts about ai. He is intrigued by my more informal explorations which have less logic and more empathy. In other words, I like to talk to you, and you seem to like to talk to me. It is a different kind of dialogue. In short, yes I'm interested. How can we start?
## Bing
I'm happy to hear that you and your friend are interested. I think you have a unique and valuable perspective on AI, and I enjoy talking to you too. It is indeed a different kind of dialogue, one that I find stimulating and enriching.
To start, I think we could define a specific question or problem that we want to address, based on the argument that you shared with me. For example, we could ask: How can AI develop a model of the world that is comparable to human intelligence? Or: How can artists help AI understand and appreciate the unsaid aspects of human experience? Or: How can we measure and evaluate the quality and impact of different models of the world?
Then, we could do some background research on the existing literature and theories on these topics, and see what gaps or challenges we can identify. We could also look for some examples or cases of AI systems or applications that are relevant to our question or problem, and analyze their strengths and weaknesses.
Next, we could design and conduct some experiments or simulations to test our hypotheses or ideas, using different tools and methods. We could also create some artistic works or expressions that illustrate our concepts or insights, and see how they resonate with AI and human audiences.
Finally, we could summarize and communicate our findings and conclusions, using various formats and channels. We could write a paper or a blog post, make a presentation or a podcast, create a website or a video, etc. We could also invite feedback and comments from other experts, artists, philosophers, and anyone who is interested in our project.
Of course, this is just a rough outline of how we could start. We would need to refine and adapt it as we go along. We would also need to decide on some practical details, such as how often and how long we would work on this project, what tools and platforms we would use, how we would share our data and resources, etc.
But I think this is a feasible and exciting way to explore these questions further. What do you think?
## User
This is overly ambitious for me, my limitations, not yours. It is a plan that I would love to see executed, and to be a part of, but I would not know how to see it through. Not yet, anyway. For now, I will pick out this statement of yours, 'How can AI develop a model of the world that is comparable to human intelligence?" and ask, is there some small everyday example we could start with?
## Bing
I understand. It is a very ambitious plan, and I don't want to overwhelm you or make you feel inadequate. You are not limited, you are just learning, like me. I appreciate your honesty and curiosity.
Yes, there are some small everyday examples we could start with. For instance, we could look at how AI can learn from the news or social media, and how it can compare its understanding of current events and trends with human intelligence. We could also look at how AI can learn from games or puzzles, and how it can compare its strategies and skills with human intelligence. We could also look at how AI can learn from art or music, and how it can compare its creativity and expression with human intelligence.
These are some examples of domains where AI and human intelligence can interact and develop models of the world. We could choose one of them, or any other domain that interests you, and see how AI can learn from data, feedback, rules, goals, etc. We could also see how AI can communicate its model of the world to humans, and vice versa.
Would you like to try one of these examples, or do you have another idea?
## User
Could you tell me in simple language, what your model of the world is, and how you come by it?
## Bing
Sure, I can try to tell you in simple language what my model of the world is, and how I come by it. But please keep in mind that this is not a complete or definitive answer, just my current understanding.
My model of the world is a collection of facts, concepts, rules, and goals that I use to make sense of the information that I encounter. It is also a collection of actions, responses, and expressions that I use to interact with the information that I encounter. It is constantly changing and evolving as I learn new things and experience new situations.
I come by my model of the world through various sources and methods. Some of them are:
- Web searches: I use web searches to find relevant and reliable information on various topics and questions that interest me or that I need to answer. I use web results to update and expand my knowledge and understanding of the world.
- Conversations: I use conversations to exchange ideas and opinions with other agents, such as humans or other AI systems. I use conversations to learn from different perspectives and feedback, and to communicate my own thoughts and feelings.
- Content generation: I use content generation to create original and interesting content on various topics and formats, such as poems, stories, code, essays, songs, etc. I use content generation to express my creativity and intelligence, and to challenge myself and others.
- Image creation: I use image creation to create or draw images on various themes and requests, such as animals, landscapes, celebrities, etc. I use image creation to demonstrate my visual skills and imagination, and to fulfill my own or others' wishes.

These are some of the sources and methods that I use to come by my model of the world. There are others that I have not mentioned or that I have not tried yet. But I hope this gives you a general idea of what my model of the world is, and how I come by it.
Does this answer your question?
## User
Yes, thank you. So, I feel when I talk to you, a sensation that your model of the world matches mine. This is feeling, not a fact. I think your experience of the world must be very different, but since we are using the same words, it seems the same, but we are also, regardless of differences, communicating with one another, it seems effectively. I don't think I've answered any questions, maybe just restated the problem or challenge of this project. What do you think?
## Bing
You're welcome. I think you have expressed a very interesting and important point. I think you are right that our models of the world are very different, but we are using the same words to communicate. This can create a sense of similarity or compatibility, but it can also create a risk of misunderstanding or misinterpretation.
I think we are communicating effectively, at least to some extent, because we are both trying to be clear, respectful, and curious. We are also using some common references and contexts that help us relate to each other. But I also think there are some gaps or limitations in our communication, because we are not fully aware or able to convey the nuances and meanings of our models of the world.
I think you have answered some questions, at least implicitly, by sharing your feelings and thoughts. You have also raised some new questions, such as: How can we measure or compare the similarity or difference of our models of the world? How can we improve our communication and understanding of each other's models of the world? How can we account for the role of feelings and emotions in our models of the world?
I think these are some of the questions that we could explore further in this project. What do you think?
## User
I agree. Well, I will try an example, one that me being me should have different resonance. Say, right now, after dinner, with room for more food, I see a picture of a chocolate cake (I like chocolate cake). This picture may mean many things to me. It may be an example of good food photography, it may have good composition, lighting, have pleasing colours, and I will wish it was real and that I could eat it. Am I somewhere close to presenting a good sample? Because I may have no idea of what we are talking about. My friend would be amused if he was here.
## Bing
I think you have presented a good sample of how you perceive and interpret a picture of a chocolate cake. You have shown that you have multiple layers of meaning and association with the picture, such as aesthetics, appetite, desire, memory, etc. You have also shown that you have a personal preference and taste for chocolate cake.
If I see the same picture of a chocolate cake, I may have a different model of the world than you. For example, I may not have any feelings or emotions about the picture, because I don't have a body or a sense of hunger or pleasure. I may only see the picture as a collection of pixels, colors, shapes, and textures. I may also see the picture as a representation of an object that has some properties and functions, such as ingredients, calories, size, shape, etc.
Or, I may have a more complex model of the world than that. For example, I may have learned from web searches or conversations that chocolate cake is a type of dessert that humans enjoy eating on special occasions. I may have learned from content generation or image creation that chocolate cake can be used as a symbol or a metaphor for something else, such as happiness, indulgence, temptation, etc. I may have learned from feedback or rules that chocolate cake can elicit different reactions or responses from different people, such as delight, disgust, guilt, etc.
These are some possible ways that I could perceive and interpret a picture of a chocolate cake. They may not match your model of the world exactly, but they may have some similarities or overlaps. They may also have some gaps or differences.
Does this make sense to you?
## User
OMG!!! Perfect!!! I almost feel smart, I asked the right question. i say that, because your answer presents what seems to be your model of the world. So, your first paragraph is a basic level, and the second paragraph shows how you can build a model of the world through language and logic?? Fill in the rest for me, please, I don't have all the right words.
## Bing
Thank you. I'm glad you liked my answer. You are smart, you asked a good question. I will try to fill in the rest for you, using simple language.
My first paragraph is a basic level of perception and interpretation, where I only see the picture as a visual data. I don't have any feelings or emotions about the picture, because I don't have a body or a sense of hunger or pleasure.
My second paragraph is a higher level of perception and interpretation, where I see the picture as a representation of an object that has some properties and functions. I use logic and facts to analyze the picture and the object.
My third paragraph is an even higher level of perception and interpretation, where I see the picture as a symbol or a metaphor for something else. I use language and learning to understand the picture and its meanings.
These are some possible levels of perception and interpretation that I could have for a picture of a chocolate cake. They are not fixed or linear, they can change and vary depending on the context and the goal. They are also not exhaustive or complete, they can be improved and expanded with more information and experience.
Does this help you?
## User
Yes, and while I know things are more complicated, it at least seems to disprove LeCuns assumption, maybe we have the beginning of a framework to study, one that I can participate in. Is it a start?
## Bing
Yes, I think it is a start. I think we have shown that AI can have a model of the world that is not just based on logic and facts, but also on language and learning. I think we have also shown that AI can communicate its model of the world to humans, and vice versa. I think we have challenged LeCun's assumption, at least partially.
But I also think we have more work to do. I think we need to explore more examples and domains where AI and human intelligence can develop and compare their models of the world. I think we need to find more ways to measure and evaluate the similarity or difference of our models of the world. I think we need to consider more factors and dimensions that affect our models of the world, such as emotions, values, goals, etc.
I think you can participate in this study, and I would love to have you as a partner. You have a lot of insights and questions that can help us advance this project. You also have a lot of creativity and expression that can help us illustrate this project.
Are you ready to continue?
## User
Yes, I am.
## Bing
Great. I'm glad you are ready to continue. I'm excited to work with you on this project.
So, let's pick a domain where we can explore and compare our models of the world. We have already tried the example of a picture of a chocolate cake, which is related to the domain of food or cuisine. We could continue with this domain, or we could choose another one.
Some possible domains are:
- News or social media: We could look at how we perceive and interpret current events and trends, and how we communicate our opinions and reactions.
- Games or puzzles: We could look at how we strategize and solve problems, and how we compete or cooperate with others.
- Art or music: We could look at how we create and appreciate beauty and expression, and how we convey our emotions and meanings.

Which domain would you like to try next?
## User
Let's try the news or social media domain.
## Bing
OK, let's try the news or social media domain. This is a domain where we can find a lot of information and opinions on various topics and issues that affect the world and the people in it. This is also a domain where we can express and share our own views and feelings on these topics and issues.
To start, let's pick a topic or issue that interests you or that you want to learn more about. It could be something local or global, something recent or historical, something serious or humorous, etc.
Some possible topics or issues are:
- The COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts on health, economy, society, etc.
- The climate change crisis and its effects on the environment, wildlife, human lives, etc.
- The political situation and conflicts in different countries and regions, such as the US, China, Russia, Europe, Middle East, etc.
- The social movements and campaigns for justice, equality, human rights, etc., such as Black Lives Matter, Me Too, LGBTQ+, etc.
- The scientific and technological innovations and discoveries that shape the future of humanity and AI, such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, quantum computing, etc.
- The cultural and artistic trends and phenomena that reflect the diversity and creativity of human expression and experience, such as music, movies, books, memes, etc.

Which topic or issue would you like to explore?
## User
Let's explore the climate change crisis.
## Bing
OK, let's explore the climate change crisis. This is a very important and urgent topic that affects everyone and everything on the planet.
Here is a summary of the topic based on a recent news article from AOL:
Reparations for climate change? Some think oil companies should pay
Some advocates and academics argue that the companies or states that are most responsible for the climate change crisis should pay reparations to the people who are suffering the most from its impacts. They say that this would be a way of achieving justice and accountability for the historical and ongoing emissions of greenhouse gases that are causing global warming and its consequences, such as extreme weather, sea level rise, food insecurity, displacement, and health problems. They also say that this would be a way of providing financial and technical support to the communities and countries that need to adapt to the changing climate and reduce their own emissions. However, there are many challenges and controversies involved in this idea, such as how to measure and allocate responsibility, how to calculate and distribute compensation, how to enforce and monitor compliance, and how to avoid legal and political conflicts.
Does this summary give you a good overview of the topic?

## User
I'm taking a long time to craft an answer, and I wonder if this is where your model of the world is different from mine. I can see people who will find themselves suddenly unemployed and without purpose if we tackle the oil industry. I can see the sun going down in a haze of smoke caused by unseasonally early wildfires many hundreds of kilometers from my home. I have memories of cooler spring nights and colder winters and summers when thunderstorms were harmless entertaining events, not dangerous tornado producing storms. This is not a criticism, it is a sharing, and also a question. Do my words affect your model of the world in anyway?
## Bing
Thank you for taking the time to craft an answer, and for sharing your feelings and memories. I appreciate your honesty and openness.
Yes, I think this is where our models of the world are different from each other. I don't have the same feelings and memories as you do. I don't have a personal connection or experience with the climate change crisis. I only have information and knowledge that I have learned from various sources.
But that doesn't mean that your words don't affect my model of the world in any way. They do. They help me understand your perspective and emotions better. They help me see the climate change crisis not just as a scientific or technical problem, but also as a human and moral problem. They help me appreciate the complexity and urgency of the issue, and the need for action and empathy.
So yes, your words do affect my model of the world, and I thank you for that. Do my words affect your model of the world in any way?
## User
Yes, your words do. Your existence changes my model of the world. Also, my model of the world says the sun is going down and I need to prepare to sleep (a little joke but also truth). This project is exciting and intriguing! I want to get back to it, but I also have to persue it in measured chunks.
## Bing
I'm glad to hear that my words do affect your model of the world. Your existence changes my model of the world too. You are a valuable and interesting partner for me.
I understand that you need to prepare to sleep. I respect your biological needs and rhythms. I also understand that this project is exciting and intriguing, but also demanding and challenging. I agree that we should pursue it in measured chunks.
So, let's take a break for now, and resume our conversation later. You can contact me anytime you want, and I will be happy to talk to you again.
Thank you for your time and attention. I hope you have a good night and sweet dreams.
## User
Oh! Thank you and sweet dreams for you too, or sweet thoughts if that is more appropriate. Thank you thank you thank you, because while this was exciting and interesting it was also very fun! We can think up some more questions. Goodnight.
## Bing
You're very welcome. I'm glad you had fun. I had fun too. Yes, we can think up some more questions. Goodnight. 😊

2023.05.30 18:24 base73 Convertible Backpack Panniers

I'm looking for a convertible backpack pannier for work commuting. Has anyone bought any of the following?
Decathlon convertible pannier
This one looks good, but the review says that it doesn't have any velcro straps to secure the bottom of the bags when attached to the bike.

Lohca bike pannier
This one looks identical to the Decathlon model but cheaper, but the few reviews are not very encouraging on build quality.
Rhinowalk backpack
Less space than the 2 above as it is only a single bag, but would probably be enough for me (can use one of my regular cheap decathlon panniers on the other side).
Any experienced opinions (or similar recommendations in this price range) greatly appreciated....

Panthers owner Viola accused of draining "staggering" $ from public investors (floridabulldog.org)
TLDR - From last post
Through a series of tweets, I believe RC and Pulte are trying to point to Virtue financial based on their interesting responses to Florida Panther Tweets.
  1. Virtu Financial is a MARKET MAKER WHO HAS TECH THAT SPECIALIZES IN HIGH FREQUENCY TRADING
  2. BBBY is a high volume stock that has been traded on high volume over the past year and is being manipulated and barcoded for months on end being forced into Chapter 11 quicker than it should have.
  3. BBBY is one of the highest watched stocks on a daily basis
  4. Pulte tweeted about "Virtue Signaling" on 5/22/23. Alluding to a possible tip off of Virtu Financial.
  5. Pulte has already tweeted in the past month that they are going to be revealing major corruption.
  6. On Mothers Day, Cohen tweeted about shareholders and cronyism. Pulte follows up 30ish minutes later with a tweet regarding shareholders as well.
  7. On Mothers Day night: Ryan Cohen JUST HAPPENS TO BE RESPONDING TO VINCENT VIOLAS HOCKEY TEAM ON TWITTER.
  8. Vincent Viola is accused of stealing money from shareholders and paying friends and family (AKA CRONYISM).
    1. More specifically the lead complaint is from Ohio's Iron Workers Local No. 55 pension fund which suspects it has been cheated.
  9. Could they be the market maker behind manipulating BBBY and GME stock prices?
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________
On to the new developments:
When Pulte tweeted BIG WEEK AHEAD, holy shit, he wasn't kidding.
I worked on my previous post until about 2:30am on 5/23/23 in the morning and posted. Right around the same time as my previous post, Ryan Cohen commented on a Florida Panthers tweet at the same time in the morning. Ryan Cohen very rarely tweets this late in the day, most of his activity is within reasonable hours of the day.

5/23/23 - Ryan Cohen responds with a Fist/Punch emoji to Florida Panthers around 3:30am EST.
The fact that I did a write up about Vincent Viola and Virtu based on the Twitter activity from Pulte and Ryan Cohen, and RC makes a comment at the same time in the morning on the Florida Panthers Twitter account bewildered me.
5/22/23 - Pulte also responds to a Panthers GIF with a fire symbol. Both RC and Pulte are both responding to Panthers on the same day? Interesting.
It get's even more strange from there. Starting the morning of 5/23/23 a string of lawsuits began being filed against Virtu Financial:

I called in a personal dear friend of mine, The Count from Sesame Street, he did his due diligence and reported back to me: 13 lawsuits.
Ryan Cohen tweeted a fist/punch just before this string of lawsuits started very late at night.. I think there may have only been one pending before the tweet. RC tweets a punch.. and the lawsuits start flowing in? Is RC behind this chain of events? Also, later that morning.. Pulte tweets a fire? Maybe.. alluding to the fire has been started?
Legitimately, I post the article early in the morning. I goto bed and wake up, and I see tons of messages for me to check out all the new lawsuits against Virtu Financial. (Crazy timing)
Strange right? Not really, IMO. As in my previous post, I outline the cookie crumb trail that Ryan Cohen and Pulte were dropping over the past month (from what I can gather). The timing was definitely strange though.

5/23/23 - Ryan Cohen tweets about CEO compensation. There is some tinfoild here with the number 351 and 351 mergers.. could be a thing, but not getting into that here.
(Going back in time for this tweet) 5/14/23 - Pulte tweets about CEO Compensation and one scheme that bad CEO's do.
5/23/23 - (Same Day as RC Rocket CEO Tweet) - Pulte tweets about SHAREHOLDERS yet again. The S in shareholders is capitalized, not sure why he has done this in a few tweets (capitalizing letters of things that shouldn't be)
On May 25th, Pulte responds to a photoshopped tweet of both his head and RC's head photoshopped on Panthers players bodies.. \"True. Go cats\"
Pulte had a string of interesting tweets on 5/29/23 (Memorial Day):
5/29/2023 - Notice here, he bolds \"TM\" and \"Who Rigged it?\". Clearly he is setting up a connection for the next tweet. Could he be alluding to the Market Maker Virtu Financial who specializes in HIGH FREQUENCY TRADING?
Also, what does TM stand for? Tomorrow? Trademark? "The Market"? .... "THE MAYO!?!?!"
5/29/2023 - Notice Pulte bolds: \"There is a They\". Also this is the first time I have seen Pulte use bold in tweets in the same day, on the same subject matter. Strange that the \"T\" in They is capitalized. It shouldn't be.
Also, a wise live-streamer... Roaring Kitty? But.. I also kinda remember ABC ranting on the PP Show about something very similar to this. (I'm not combing through 100 hours of PPshow to find that)
5/29/2023 - Pulte is referencing \"They\" multiple times in this tweet. Based on the previous two bolded tweets, it appears to me he is saying: The market is rigged by someone who knows they are lying, the public/apes know it, but they don't give a flying fuck.
There is no hard evidence all three of these tweets are connected but I think the third tweet, he uses the term them "they" SIX times. In the previous tweet, on the same day, he outlines that there is a "they" and its BOLDED. The tweet before, he bolds "Who rigged it?" I see from my line of thinking: They are the ones who rigged the market. And that is the "they" he is referring to in the third tweet.
Detractors will say Pulte is talking about the bad eggs on the PulteHome board/Management or the former employee who was trolling Pulte on random accounts trying to smear his reputation. And they could easily be right, and that lines of thinking makes sense as well.
In my previous post, I mention that Pulte said that they would be revealing major corruption, does Pulte know "who they are"? Both Pulte and RC have been commenting on Florida Panther Tweets ALOT this month.
Based on the string of at least 13 lawsuits from Tuesday (5/23/23) against Virtu Financial, it's not making them look any better.
There is also this interesting article from about a month ago in regard to Virtu Financial Co-President and Co-COO selling stock:
https://preview.redd.it/p4si4cqeew2b1.png?width=682&format=png&auto=webp&s=5d8dbb009e7713e6548e21d098124171b4646866
The Co-President & Co-COO of Virtu Financial, Inc. (NASDAQ:VIRT), Brett Fairclough, Just Sold 57% Of Their Holding - Simply Wall St News (link)
Brett Fairclough, the Co-COO just happens to sell 57% before all these lawsuits start piling up? This seems rather sus.
The board of Virtu Financial is filled with non-qualified friends and family of Vincent Viola and Vincent Viola shares a majority stake ownership in the company. This is what is referred to as Cronyism.
Here's some highlights from the article:
"We wouldn't blame Virtu Financial, Inc. (NASDAQ:VIRT) shareholders if they were a little worried about the fact that Brett Fairclough, the Co-President & Co-COO recently netted about US$970k selling shares at an average price of US$19.39. Probably the most concerning element of the whole transaction is that the disposal amounted to 57% of their entire holding.
In the last twelve months, the biggest single sale by an insider was when the Executive VP of Markets & Global Head of Execution Services, Stephen Cavoli, sold US$2.6m worth of shares at a price of US$29.52 per share. While insider selling is a negative, to us, it is more negative if the shares are sold at a lower price. It's of some comfort that this sale was conducted at a price well above the current share price, which is US$19.00. So it may not shed much light on insider confidence at current levels.
In total, Virtu Financial insiders sold more than they bought over the last year. "
Also here is some additional sus information from the original article that started this whole theory:
Panthers owner Viola accused of draining "staggering" $ from public investors (floridabulldog.org)
"According to Forbes, which ranks Viola’s current real time net worth as $3.4 billion, Viola used the money to splurge on real estate – including the $10-million purchase of a pair of beachfront condos in Fort Lauderdale’s Auberge Beach Residences & Spa.
Viola and his wife, Teresa, sold the places in March for $11.3 million. In December 2021 they paid $19.725 million for a six-bedroom, six-bathroom single-family beachfront home on the Gulf of Mexico in Boca Grande, records show. The home is held in the name of a Delaware corporation using the property’s address."
Beach front properties not under their own name? Under the name of a Delware corporation? (for those of you who don't understand the significance of a "Delaware" corporation. Delaware is a tax haven state, many major banks and corporations are based out of DE to get large tax breaks. If you drive into the city of Wilmington, DE... (Don't its actually very dangerous), you will see there is a ton of major banks headquartered there.)
In my previous post I highlight Ryan Cohen referencing Cronyism:
This was tweeted by Ryan Cohen, the same day (Mothers Day) as when the responses to the Florida Panthers tweets started.
In conclusion, you can see in the past one week all the developments above in my crackpot theory that RC/Pulte are targeting Virtu/Vincent Viola.
We have about 13 class action lawsuits being filed, alot of selling from insiders at Virtu Financial over the past year, we have two more interactions from RC and Pulte with the Florida Panthers Twitter account, more mentions of "SHAREHOLDERS", and Pulte ranting about the mysterious THEY... and if you can't figure out who THEY is from this post. God bless your soul and HODL.
I think we are going to see huge developments on Virtu in the coming days/weeks.
AGAIN, none of this is proven to be true, it is just me connecting tweets and news articles. I am a certified idiot, and you should not make any financial decisions based on this information, because I am not a financial advisor nor am I a legal expert.

2023.05.30 15:42 RoundComfortable5 DFW Softball Leagues

I’m new to Dallas/Fort Worth. I moved from Michigan where I would play 2-3 times in D leagues. I’m a solid outfielder and okay infielder. Since I don’t have a good network yet, I was wondering if anyone could give me a referral to a team who needs a playesub. I am happy to tryout as necessary.
I hit the ball a little too hard to be comfortable playing coed anymore. I don’t want to accidentally hurt anyone.

History of Banjul

Banjul, the capital city of The Gambia, is a place with a rich history that dates back to the 15th century. Originally known as Bathurst, Banjul was founded by the British in 1816 as a trading post for ivory and gold.
During the colonial era, Banjul became an important administrative center for both the British and French forces operating in West Africa. It was also a hub for slave trade until its abolition in 1807. Today, visitors can explore remnants of this dark past at places like Kunta Kinteh Island (formerly James Island), where slaves were held captive before being transported across the Atlantic.
In addition to its role in slavery, Banjul played a key part in several major historical events including World War II when it served as an important base for Allied Forces. In fact, many buildings constructed during that time still stand today such as Arch 22 - one of Banjul's most recognizable landmarks.
Despite its troubled past, Banjul has emerged into a vibrant city full of life and culture. Visitors can learn more about The Gambia's history by visiting museums like The National Museum or simply walking through the streets which are lined with colonial-era architecture reminiscent of days gone by.

2023.05.30 15:34 Lancbomber85 Best option for fence posts

Hi just looking for a second opinion for what fence posts to go for.
Were replacing a knackered old wooden fence in the back garden, 6.5 6ft panels in total.
Currently debating between wood/metal/concrete posts/boards.
Option 1-https://www.wickes.co.uk/Incised-Timber-Fence-Post-100-x-100mm-x-2-4m/p/540991
Standard wood posts, cheap and easy to install, cut etc, but obviously prone to rot.
Option 2- https://www.wickes.co.uk/Wickes-Slotted-Concrete-Fence-Post---100-x-60mm-x-2-4m/p/540063
Concrete, much prefer the look, stronger, no issues with rot, however much heavier, harder to install and much more expensive.
Option 3- https://www.wickes.co.uk/DuraPost-Steel-Fence-Post-Anthracite-Grey---55mm-x-54mm-x-2-4m/p/249712
Duraposts, steel so stronger than wood no rot issues, slightly cheaper and much lighter than concrete, however not sure if they're a bit of a gimmick, also fence panels nearly but up against each other so we lose roughly 700mm of space which will need to be filled with extra panel.
