Hi everyone!
I’m a 21 year old From the US who is looking to get to know each other and if we click, maybe something that could lead to us being more than just friends in a casual flirty way or friends with benefits. I don't mind where you are or your age whether that's around my age or older is fine. I've been pretty lonely and what comes with that is lack of online intimacy or sexual connection so I'm seeking someone to change that with haha
After we get comfortable I'm fine with moving to other platforms such as Snapchat or discord or something. With Snapchat, I prefer sending snaps over texting. I mainly find Snapchat to be the most fun when sending pics thus why I prefer it.
There's pictures of me on my profile.
Physically I'm 6ft tall, I'm average/slim build, and I'm white with hazel eyes and dark brown hair. I wear glasses too.
I've been feeling kind of lonely as of late and decided to try my chances. I live on a small farm house built in the 50s with family and my parents are a little on the older side and thus we don't really get out all that often, so it becomes kind of isolating at times. I figured why not make a post and possibly meet someone great as you never know what life will give you when least expected. I work as a facility maintenance tech for a company that I just started with a week ago!
Now that we've established who I am and what I'm looking for, here are a few interests of mine to get to know me better!
• Fall/Autumn season
Already mentioned, but had to list this one because I just adore the fall and everything that comes with it. My birthday is in October too so it's always been my favorite month. I much prefer fall and winter over a muggy humid summer. In the cooler seasons there's always ways to warm up.
• Technology
I'm good at fixing electronics and I'm quite nerdy in that aspect. So if something breaks I can fix it ;) I'm also good with my hands and quite inclined mechanically.
• Music
I love genres such as classic rock, alternative rock, psychedelic rock, gothic rock, heavy metal, punk, post punk, hardcore, etc. My current favorite bands are The Cure and Joy Division/New Order. But I like tons of older and newer bands as well.
• Cooking and Baking
I like to cook and learn new recipes, as well as bake fun things too! It's always nice when the house feels nice and cozy and smells good. I appreciate the simple pleasures in life, a cozy cup of tea and music or a movie in bed or sitting outside is so nice!
• Animals
I love animals of all types, and I currently have an older cat which I adore to death! We rescued her from the local shelter. She's the sweetest thing. (I think I love her more than anyone in the house lol, she just makes me so happy) :)
• Art
I enjoy art, both creating it from time to time such as drawing, and admiring other peoples work. There's just something so fun about it and seeing things so beautiful.
• Houseplants
I love houseplants and really anything nature related and also spiritual such as crystals and rocks. I love to help my mom in caring for all of our plants and also gardening outside when its a good growing season. Its fun! I also like cottage core and goblin core type vibes and enjoy sitting out on the deck burning incense, its peaceful :)
• Cozy video games
I'm not a hardcore gamer really, but I enjoy simple and fun cozy relaxing games such as Stardew valley and Minecraft. :)
I'm a very honest, caring, and loving type of person. I'm pretty introverted normally in private but get quite extroverted when I'm close with someone.
There's not much I expect from a potential friend except for respect, kindness, and honesty! I'm just very chill and easy going and able to adapt to all sorts of personalities.
If you think we'd vibe, send me a chat! I’d love to get to know you! :)

Let me start my story by telling you something about me, the most important thing, in fact: I find things, and I fix them. That’s who I am. If you don’t know that, you don’t know me.
I’m a second-generation auto mechanic, born-and-bred. I’ve been repairing cars since before Ford Pintos were blowing up, when cars were made of steel and Route 66 wasn’t just something for the cartoons. These days I’m fortunate enough to own a shop downtown between two of those chain coffee places. It’s small, sure, but it has a reputation for saving cars so far-gone no one else will even touch ‘em. So if you live in the area, and you’ve ever been stuck with the sourest of lemons, or maybe your kid drove your minivan into the pool, we just might have crossed paths, you and I.
That reputation is what led to me getting a phone call from a guy I’d never met, saying he had something that might interest me. His name was Burt and he’d apparently just purchased a piece of property that sat unowned for the better part of twenty years. I knew of the area he was talking about. It’s out in the hills, where there isn’t much to look at. Most of the land there went to weed years ago; acres and acres of old woods and burnt-down barns just waiting for nobody in particular to see the value in them. And, well, it seems Burt was that nobody in particular.
I honestly didn’t know what Burt’s purchase had to do with me, and told him just that, figuring he must have had the wrong number. But the next words out of his mouth told me he knew exactly who he was talking to.
Apparently when old Burt started walking around his new property, digging around in the dirt, so to speak, he made an interesting discovery. So interesting, in fact, that it got me to grab my keys, hop in my truck, and drive up into the hills without so much as a pause to wash my hands.
Some things, you see, don’t wait for a man to look presentable.
As I drove up into the hills to meet Burt, I started to think about my father and the drives he used to take me on. He liked to get a feel for whichever car he was working on, and those drives, they always ended with a detour into the hills. ‘Nothing tests a vehicle like elevation,’ he used to say, and I have to admit, I still agree with that statement. All those long inclines, sharp turns and fast descents- not to mention the occasional slam on the brakes- really put a car through its paces.
Dad knew a thing or two about cars, even if he knew nothing about how to raise a family.
Other than maybe a slight fear of commitment, the main thing I got from my father was a passion for restoring old cars in my spare time. It’s a hobby of mine, and I do it in the garage at my house. I’m especially a sucker for rare cars, and the rarer the better. That little hobby of mine, more so than my day business, was why I ended up driving out to the middle of nowhere with dirty hands and a head full of ideas.
The road up was just as long and winding as I remembered. I almost missed the entrance for the property, a hidden driveway marked with little more than a broken mailbox and a rotting signpost. The private road got smaller and smaller by the minute until I swore the trees were going to swallow me whole and spit the bones back out.
When I finally reached what could pass for a clearing, a guy with a face like a junkyard dog was waiting for me next to the newest, cleanest Ford pick-up I’d seen outside of a dealership. He introduced himself to me as Eddie, an associate of old Burt. I told him I’d been expecting to meet Burt himself, but Eddie explained that Burt didn’t like to meet new people, and rarely came out in the cold weather. It was a bit raw, I had to admit, so I dropped the whole thing and let Eddie get down to the business at hand.
We left our cars behind and Eddie led me into the woods, where the walking was slow-going on account of the overgrowth of vines and dead branches. I’m not one to spook easily, but the more we walked the creepier those woods got, until I was fairly sure Eddie was going to use that French Mastiff face of his to tear my throat out. But just when I was thinking about turning back and saying screw it to the whole thing, I caught sight of what we’d come for.
The very first car I saw was a white, 1974 Pontiac Trans-Am. It was missing its door and tires, and it was buried under a layer of dead vines, but the body shape was unmistakable. Under the rust I could even see what was left of the telltale Firebird emblazoned across its hood in blue.
I couldn’t believe a car like that was just sitting out in the middle of the woods, waiting for anyone to come along and find it. As I got closer, though, I saw just how bad the condition of the car was. The insides were rotted out from rain and mold, and the floor was so eaten up by rust it was ready to fall out.
Before my brain could process the loss of such a beautiful machine, I caught sight of another car. This one was a Datsun 210 with a tree growing right through the hole where its trunk used to be. Wet leaves and newspaper filled the back seat, and the dashboard was an abandoned nest that crawled with leggy insects.
Old Burt hadn’t been pulling my leg: those woods were a graveyard for abandoned cars. From what I could tell, about three acres of woods were absolutely littered with the corpses of old autos. Some were in pieces, most were covered in dead leaves and rust and all the other things that happen when anything is left outside for years and years, but they were there. The sight of so many classic cars in one place, virtually unknown to anyone, both excited and saddened me.
For close to an hour I walked around random piles of tires and glass to stare at rusted-out Range Rovers and Jeeps with their headlights hanging out like popped eyeballs. Finally, like I’d woken up from a spell, I asked Eddie what Burt expected from me. And that’s when he told me the strangest, most interesting offer he could have told me in that moment.
He said if I could make every, single one of those cars disappear in three day’s time, at no cost to old Burt, I could keep them.
The words nearly knocked me off my feet. I’d have to call in every favor to every salvage yard and tow truck operator I knew, but it was possible. Still, nearly all of the cars I’d seen were beyond repair, even for a guy like me. At most I saw some parts that could be salvaged. Maybe a few of the newer, less damaged ones could be saved. I knew a few guys in my circle who might be interested, and I figured if I played my cards right I could make a few bucks out of the deal to boot- or at least land a good trade or two. Still, there weren’t any cars that I was interested in for myself.
Until, at the edge of the property, tucked away in a spot I’d nearly overlooked, I saw it. It was as if I’d been drawn there. Like I was meant to find it.
The car was familiar-looking, yet like nothing I’d ever seen. Cross a Chevelle Malibu Classic SE with the modern retro feel of the ‘97 Plymouth Prowler, add the large rear spoiler and flared wheel arches of a ‘99 Nissan Skyline GT-R, and you still won’t come close. It looked like something one of the big three manufacturers had made and yet I’d never seen or heard of its like ever before. It had no logos, no hood ornament, no identification of any kind. I practically ran around to the back of it to look for a name, a logo, something to identify it, tripping over hidden rocks and broken glass to do it.
But there was nothing. Nothing to betray the make and mark of the strange car in front of me. I even asked Eddie if he knew what it was. He only shrugged, clearly wanting to wrap up our little outdoor meeting. I half-heartedly agreed. It was later than I’d realized. Between the dwindling sun and the discovery I’d made, I’d started to get a chill I couldn’t shake. I had a bad tooth I’d been neglecting, and even that was starting to hurt from the cold.
So I agreed to Burt’s deal. I shook Eddie’s hand on it and got out of there, giving one last glance at the strange car in the woods on the way out.
The next day, after making more phone calls than a politician on election night, a swarm of flatbeds, wheel-lifts and salvage trucks descended on those woods. For two days they scooped out every piece of metal and glass in the place, while I oversaw the operation like a choir conductor from hell. I directed trucks this way and cutting crews that way. They snipped and cut and tore out every dead tree standing in the way so the truck crews could do the rest. I even got in there myself with the old chainsaw when it was needed.
It was an exhausting two days, but I managed to keep my word to Burt and clear every abandoned car off his property with about an hour to spare. Some of the cars went to the junkyard, others to various garages I’d made arrangements with.
I was dead on my feet by the time I got home. I was ready for a shower and a bed, in what order I wasn’t sure. And yet a crackle of energy went through me when I saw what had been dropped off in my garage.
My mystery car. Without the shadows of the woods hiding it, I could see it had been painted silver before the rust took over. It had been a fast sucker once, like a bullet to a werewolf’s chest. That had been a long time ago, and yet I sensed there was still some life in the old girl. I wanted so badly to start digging around under the hood, to see what I could find out, but my legs were ready to collapse and my eyes could barely focus. Intending to wake up early and hit the garage, I stumbled off to bed.
You know that feeling you get when you realize someone’s been talking to you for the past minute, thinking you’ve been listening, and you only just figured it out?
That’s the feeling I woke up to.
I sat straight up like a vampire rising from his coffin. My bedroom was still dark, which meant it was the middle of the night. In my half-sleep I tried to make out the clock on my nightstand but couldn’t read the numbers, so I fumbled for my glasses and shoved them on. It was just past two in the morning: way too early, even for me. No way was I getting up, strange feeling or no.
I was about to take my glasses off and lay back down when I heard the reason I’d woken up.
Whispering.
A man was in my room, whispering in the dark. I lunged across my bed and turned on the lamp, nearly knocking it over. I didn’t have a weapon, but if I could see the intruder I could do something about it. I spun back, back to the whispering, to see who it was, to shout at them or jump on them, whatever I had to do to save my life from the psycho in my bedroom.
But the room was empty. Just me and a pounding heart.
I was so confused, I jumped out of bed and tore around the room, making sure no one was hiding, but I didn’t find anyone. I was alone.
Then I heard it again, and I knew: the whispers were coming from down the hall.
With bare feet I followed it, trying to make out what it was saying, but it was too low to understand. I grabbed a knife as I passed through the kitchen and held it in front of me with sweat beading on my face despite how cold I kept the house.
I followed the whispering to the garage. The overhead light flickered on, lighting up the strange car in my garage. In my half-sleep, half-terror I’d nearly forgotten about it. But there it was, like a bear hibernating in its cave, waiting for the end of winter. It felt alive somehow. Not dead, just asleep and dreaming.
And it was whispering.
I knew how crazy that sounded, how crazy that was, but I swallowed hard and approached the car, knife first. The blade shook in front of me. The whispering got louder the closer I got, and yet I still couldn’t understand the words it was saying. Was someone hiding inside the car? Had I inherited a homeless man when I’d had it towed to my house? If so I had to get him out of there. Get him help, sure, make sure he had a place to sleep, but he couldn’t stay in my garage, whispering through the night. No way.
With my free hand I yanked on the driver’s side door. It didn’t open. Rusted shut. I slowly walked around to the passenger side and yanked again. It opened.
The whispering was louder now, louder but not clearer, like an old television tuned between channels, like a frequency not being picked up, like a…
Like a radio.
The whispers were coming from the radio. I laughed under my breath, realizing how ridiculous I’d been. But then I remembered there was no way the radio could be working. The car wasn’t turned on. If it even had a battery under the hood, it was probably little more than a square pile of rust and battery acid.
I clutched the kitchen knife tight, and with the other hand I slowly reached out to turn the volume knob. I needed to know if the whispers were coming from the radio, and if they were, I needed to know what they were saying. My temple throbbed as the whispers grew louder and louder, louder and louder, louder and-
The moment my finger touched the knob, the whispers stopped.
I felt like I was going crazy. I looked around the inside of the car, noting the strong smell of mildew and animal with a tinge of rotten leather. Other than my own breath echoing back at me, it was silent.
No whispers. No nothing.
I went back to bed, but I barely slept.
The next day was the day I usually took off from the shop, which was a relief since I woke up almost as tired as when I’d gone to bed. As I ate my breakfast, the night before still sat fresh in my mind. But the more I went over it, the more I thought it had been a bad dream, brought on by exhaustion and an imagination run wild. I had to admit the mystery car sitting in my garage had gotten my mind racing faster than a Formula 1.
I’m the kind of guy who likes a simple explanation, something I can touch and feel and, yes, fix, so I started to think that I could have picked up some kind of rogue radio transmission from a trucker, or even a passing plane. The police scanner I owned in my younger days had certainly picked up its share of random broadcasts, and when it comes to working on junkers I’ve learned to expect the unexpected.
After I’d eaten my breakfast and downed my coffee I got right to work on the car. I wanted to clear the air of whatever had happened, and I was dying to see what that baby had going on under the hood. The mystery of who the hell had made the thing was still heavy on me.
But the enigma only deepened the more I looked. Under all that rust and dirt and oil I couldn’t find one damn mark that told me who’d made the car. I almost wanted to say it was a custom build, but the work was too precise, the system too well-planned out to be an after-market job.
I worked on it all day, so wrapped up in it I forgot to eat lunch. I ate dinner like a raccoon digging through a dumpster. Then I worked on it some more.
I was just crawling into bed when I heard it again.
The whispering.
This time I ignored it, hoping it would go away on its own. But it didn’t stop. Not until I got up, walked across my house, went into the garage, and touched the radio. Then, it stopped.
I decided right then and there not to go to the shop the next day. There was just too much work to be done.
I’d been working on the car for four days straight before I got it started up. Four days of stripping and cleaning and rebuilding. Four nights of whispering. I was even starting to hear it during the day, but low, barely audible, like a television playing somewhere in the house.
After I got the engine started, the first thing I did was pull my code reader down from my tool wall and hook it up to the dashboard input. I’d been pleasantly surprised to find an input on the car, even though I was fairly certain it had been built after '96. To my shock the screen filled up with a bunch of random trouble codes I’d never seen before, then went blank. I tried to get it powered up again but apparently the connection had completely overloaded the device.
I’d had the reader for years and it had never given me a problem. I put it down and got back to the car, deciding to stick to the old-fashioned way and get a feel for what was wrong with it. Just like dad used to do.
With my foot on the gas I revved the engine good. It sounded better than I’d expected, like a beast waking up from deep sleep. But there was also something rattling around under the hood, something loose knocking around inside the carburetor or possibly even the manifold.
I tried a few options, opening up this and that, until I narrowed it down to something completely unexpected: the transmission.
With considerable force I managed to open up the transmission, and sure enough I found something inside. Something dark and red. I pulled it out and studied it under the light. It looked like a small rock covered in old transmission fluid. How it got in there I didn’t have a clue. But I decided to clean it off and get a better look at it, in case it pointed to a bigger problem. As I walked it to the slop sink, I noticed the whispering, usually a dull static during the day, had started to grow louder. I could almost make out individual words now. But I ignored it and ran the small rock under the faucet, watching the dark red fluid swirl down the drain.
That was when I discovered something I wasn’t prepared for. The thing in my hand wasn’t a rock- it was a tooth.
A human tooth.
The whispers had grown so loud I could barely hear myself think, barely feel the disgust rising in the pit of my stomach. With the whispers practically shouting in my ear I dropped the tooth and it bounced and clattered inside the sink, coming to a rest near the edge of the drain.
The whispers grew quiet again. A dull roar tickling at the back of my skull. I stared at it, the tooth in the sink, the impossible tooth from the impossible car. I had the urge to throw it out. To get it out of my house and never see it again. But I didn’t do that. I couldn’t tell you why not.
Maybe because that meant touching it again.
Maybe something else.
Feeling like I should give the car a rest, I worked on getting my code reader working again, otherwise I’d have to run to the store and buy a new one. I changed out the batteries and gave it a good, solid whack. A few seconds later I was happy to see the screen turn on. I thought I’d have to do a factory reset to use it again but I was surprised to find it worked perfectly fine. Not only that, the trouble codes it had read off the car were still stored in its memory.
There were pages and pages of codes like I’d never seen in my life, more than I think are even in the tool’s programming. In fact I couldn’t find a single one of them anywhere in the manual. I figured they were probably just random numbers, and yet there was something strange about them, like they had a pattern to them. I dusted off my old computer and typed in the problem codes, figuring if I could get a better look at them I might be able to figure out their meaning. If not, I could at least print them out and show them to somebody who could.
After twenty minutes I’d barely made a dent in typing up all the codes. I gave up on the idea that I could copy them all. I pushed away from my computer and stood up, rubbing my eyes from the strain. Between the glare of the old screen and the noise in my ears, my head was killing me. It all felt so pointless. So inconsequential.
Just before I shut the computer down, I happened to glance one last time at the screen. And when I did, I noticed something that made my skin go cold.
The codes. The pattern. The numbers and letters and spaces between them. They were starting to form a face. A human face, with two eyes and a screaming-
I shut the computer down as fast as I could, then unplugged it to be safe. Then I marched to the garage and disconnected the radio, practically ripping it out of the car.
The whispers stopped.
The house was quiet.
But not for long.
For three days I told myself to get rid of that car, tow it out of my garage and dump it somewhere no one could find it. Maybe even drench it in gasoline and light a match. For three days I ignored the whispers and the doorbell and the phone calls from my shop asking when I was coming back. For three days I buried my head under the hood and worked and worked and worked.
On the fourth day, when the whispers from the radio had grown louder than my own thoughts, louder but still unclear, without words I could understand, I lost it. I threw my wrench at the tool wall, knocking down chisels and socket wrenches and a dozen other tools clattering to the ground. I pounded on my ears, cursing them, willing them to go deaf and stop hearing the whispers.
But they didn’t stop hearing. And the whispers didn’t stop. So I decided. I decided that if I couldn’t stop hearing them, I at least needed to know what they were saying.
I went back to the slop sink. The tooth was still there, perched near the edge of the drain. I’d prayed for it to slip down and wash away on its own but there it was, round and sharp and real as ever. So I picked it up, and the whispers grew louder. Clearer. But still not clear enough to hear. Not enough to make out what the radio was saying. To understand what it wanted from me. It was like a broken antenna, only tuning in half the frequency.
The garage was a mess. I was a mess. Rancid grease stains everywhere. A hole in my tool wall where the wrench had struck it, the ground littered with hammers and screwdrivers and …
Pliers.
Before I could talk myself out of it, I grabbed the pliers from the ground, shoved it onto my mouth, got a good hold of my bad tooth, and ripped it out. It was easier than I expected, but it still hurt, and it bled a lot. But I didn’t hesitate. I pushed the tooth I’d found in the transmission into its place.
The moment I did, it was as if everything came into focus. As if the radio was inside my skull. No, as if my skull was the radio, and I was the antenna. I could hear the transmission clear as day now, a man’s voice inside my head.
Whispering to me.
Telling me where to find the rest of him.
I told you all of this, not because I expect you to believe me, but because I’m about to walk out my door and do something I might not come back from. And if that’s the case, if I don’t return today or any other day from this thing I need to do, I want people to know why.
Because I find things. I find things and fix them. If you don’t know that, you don’t know me.

Epoxy stuck to melamine board
I created a mold using melamine coated boards, and then sealed the seams with silicone caulk. The melamine was blemish free and clean, and I sprayed it with mold release before doing my deep pour. For some reason the melamine has bonded with the epoxy and I’m now struggling to detach the board from my work piece. Any ideas why it bonded, and any suggestions for a smoother and easier separation? I’ve hammered in shims all the way around but it’s bonded mostly in the center, and I’m worried about cracking the work piece if I pry it too harshly.

2023.05.31 01:41 yourkindcousin Unlock Success NOW: The Unstoppable 5-Key Blueprint to Master ANY Business

If you think business is about PowerPoint presentations, networking events, or buzzwords like 'synergy', think again. Strip away the noise and what you're left with is this raw, unfiltered truth: business is a beast that feeds on money. It’s the blood, sweat, and tears you pour in, hoping that when the dust settles, you'll find yourself standing on a pile of cash.
Visualize it like a relentless marathon, a race that never ends. It's the power of your investment pushing you forward, each dollar thrown in the mix acting like an extra dose of fuel, driving you towards the finish line. This game is a brutal test of endurance, strength, and strategic maneuvering.
Or better yet, imagine it as a ruthless chess game. Every move you make, each piece you sacrifice, is a strategic decision to outwit your opponent and protect your king - your profit. You play the game, take the hits, and keep moving forward, always eyeing that end goal - to end up with more money than you started with.
The problem with most businesses these days is that you don't understand the simple laws in the universe that we live in.
MONEY
ATTENTION
DEMAND
SUPPLY
FLOW
LISTEN UP! Business IS money. Period. If you're not hauling in that sweet green, then WHY ARE YOU EVEN PLAYING?
FLASHBACK: 4th grade. I'm just a kid walking into school when I see this game, Bakugan, taking the playground by storm. Intrigued, I get in on the action, buying 4 Bakugans for a cool $5.
Then, BAM! A kid approaches me and lays down $2.5 for ONE of my Bakugans. That's HALF my initial investment back, with one single sale!
There it was - MONEY IN. The first key was mine, and let me tell you, it was a thrill like no other.
Smelling the sweet scent of success and spotting the demand, I dove deeper. I found a wholesale deal and snagged 14 Bakugans for a mere $8. It was GAME ON.
I was about to shake up the school like never before. I brought in Bakugans that no one had even seen before. I had them gaping, I had them wanting. I created a STIR, and boy, did that pay off.
Just like that, I had the other 4 keys to success snug in my pocket. Money flowed in as naturally as water down a river. The symphony of a successful business was playing loud and clear, with me as the maestro.
THAT'S the power of understanding BUSINESS IS MONEY! NOTHING MORE, NOTHING LESS.
LISTEN UP! I'm about to give you the ULTIMATE guide to business success. No fluff, no jargon, just plain, simple FACTS.
We live in a world where social media has turned business into a game ANYONE can play. So stop wracking your brain and making it harder than it has to be.
The recipe to business success is literally at your FINGERTIPS. All you need is to follow the road of 123 6 9:
1 - MONEY IN.
2 - DEMAND.
3 - SUPPLY.
6 - ATTENTION.
9 - FLOW.
Get it? That's your roadmap to DOMINATION. It's simple. It's straightforward. It's foolproof.
Remember this: The first four elements can dance around any order. You could start with ATTENTION as your number 1, SUPPLY as your number 2, DEMAND as your number 3, and MONEY IN as your 6. But remember - FLOW is always 9. It's the grand finale, the thunderous climax.
These four elements are your building blocks. Forget about the perfect logo, or the next big thing. These things are nice, but they don't guarantee success. It's the fusion of these four elements that creates the FLOW, the rhythm of a successful business.
So, ARM yourself with these elements. MOLD them into your strategy. This is your golden ticket.
I can already see those comments coming in. "Oh wow, Einstein, nice discovery, we already knew this."
Well, let me hit you with a little wisdom from the man himself, Albert Einstein: "Any fool can know. The point is to understand."
DON'T BE THAT FOOL! UNDERSTAND the simple truth of business. There's ALWAYS demand, there's ALWAYS supply, and they're waiting for YOU. Find them, connect them, and that's MONEY IN. From there, getting ATTENTION is a breeze. Pay an influencer, start an ad campaign, you name it.
Sure, it takes a dose of smarts and creativity to play the elements into a harmonious symphony. But let me tell you this: EVERYONE can play their own tune that gets rewarded with the sweet sound of cash clinking.
OPEN YOUR EYES! Understand that business and money are EVERYWHERE. At the restaurant, at the party, even when you're scrolling TikTok.
Business is an ART, and like any art, it takes practice. It's a symphony that needs its conductor. And just like any skill, it CAN BE CONQUERED.

2023.05.31 00:02 No-shelfcontrol Ancient seed artifact

Long story shortish- I am only missing the ancient seed artifact, my green house and island are filled with ancient seed plants. I got my first seed from turning mushrooms into fall seeds and an ancient seed popped out instead. I’ve tried turning that seed I got into the museum and I’ve tried turning in other seeds I have made. But none are accepted and I don’t have a recipe for the seed. I’ve seen online people say you can turn your seeds in this way, do y’all have any pointers? TIA

2023.05.30 23:36 lileatsfood Can the iPad..? And what’s a good price?

Hello!
My parents are getting older and I want to make a family recipe book that involves pictures, videos, and text.
A few questions: - Would it be better to use an iPad or a computer? - What app would be best if I use an iPad? - How much should I anticipate to spend? A wifi only iPad will be fine as I’ll only be using it in the house.
Thanks for the advice.

2023.05.30 23:31 bathhousecitron Need help with freezable meals

I'm a college student living in an apartment with a tiny kitchen, nowhere to buy ingredients anywhere close, and above all no time to cook. Every weekend I go back to my family's house a couple hours away (big, well-equipped kitchen and fresh food galore), but lately I've been struggling to come up with recipes that can:
My usual go-tos are chili, boeuf bourguignon, braised lentils with vegetables, stewed lentils and sausages, and really any sort of stew that's leftover from the weekend. There's a bakery right across the street, so i can get fresh bread as a side.
Stuff I can just pop in the microwave as-is is ideal, but I can still boil/bake stuff. No grilling/frying (too much cleanup).
Any ideas?

2023.05.30 23:29 RubySoledad My sister and her never-ending dog drama

My husband and I are dog-free and loving it. No shedding, no poop-scooping, no barking, no having to hire a dog-sitter anytime we wanna travel...it's great.
The problem is my sister and her dogs. She's had two of them, a pit mix and a shepherd mix, for the last six years. She's absolutely obsessed with those creatures, and that obsession has caused an absurd level of family drama.
Those creatures are loud, whiny, clingy, disobedient, and, worst-of-all, dangerous to children and other animals. They've been known to bite, and have attacked the animals belonging to my sisters' friends.
In addition, my sister has an extremely difficult time finding an apartment that's in decent shape, and can only rent places that are mold-infested, or filthy when she moves in...all because most landlords don't allow Pitbulls. However, my sister is willing to sacrifice decent housing just for the sake of her dogs.
Because of the dogs' aggression, both my mom and myself don't want to host those hell-beasts when my sister visits from out of town (my mom has two Pekingeses, and I don't want those dogs messing my place up). But my sister is constantly harping on that fact, trying to guilt us over it, "I never get to visit because you guys don't let me bring my dogs! It's not fair!"
I try to remind her that as a dog owner, it's her responsibility to make arrangements for her dogs when she travels, and not expect others to accommodate her, but that just made her angrier.
I finally relented when we bought a bigger house with a yard, and I let her visit with the dogs, just to keep the peace.
Then, last Christmas, the shepherd began getting seizures, which causes more aggression. My sister decided that, for safety's sake, she needed to separate the two dogs, so she convinced her best friend to foster her Pitbull until the shepherd dies. Naturally, the Pitbull began biting the children in that best friend's house, so now, I have to keep the Pitbull at my house tonight until my mom can come pick it up and take it to my sister tomorrow, who lives six hours away.
Meanwhile, the shepherd's seizure medication is not working, and her seizures keep getting worse, but my sister refuses to put the creature out of it's misery, because reasons.
I'm so 10000% done with those two hell-beasts.

2023.05.30 23:16 mouseburr0w Cookies keep coming out fluffy and round?

Hello! I've used this recipe to make cookies 3 times now. The first time they came out nice, flat and very chewy which everyone in the house absolutely loved, but every time I've made them since they come out dome shaped and fluffy (which is good in some cookies but absolutely NOT what I'm going for). I thought this would be an easy problem to troubleshoot myself but every google search just gives me a bunch of articles titled "how to make your cookies round" which is the opposite of what i want. Thanks!
https://www.alattefood.com/chewy-sugar-cookies/
EDIT: I've been told to chill the cookies so I'm going to attempt that and hope it helps, but if it doesn't I'll just have to use a new recipe. Thanks for the advice everyone!

2023.05.30 22:49 CaptnRobb Bio-Active Rainforest! Any tips?

Bio-Active Rainforest! Any tips?
This is a home for my future crested or gargoyle gecko—reptile expo coming up in a few weeks so we’ll see! I just wanted to share my bioactive enclosure to see if anyone had advice on ventilation and/or any pest issues/mold I should look out for.
Info:
I built this from an IKEA Detolf cabinet that I sealed with Polyurethane wood sealant, silicone, and Flex Seal. It is about 5’6 tall and a little over 2 ft. wide. The back is made up of expanding foam and sticks sourced from a local park (treated and cleaned) and then I added substrate and moss with silicone. I foamed in three planters for the pothos, scindapsus, and fern.
The bottom has, in order from bottom to top, Leca, screen mesh, Reptisoil and leaf litter. I put in some plants (zz, ficus, snake plants, some others) after I cleaned them and I also released isopods and springtails in the soil.
Questions:
There is no screen on top, but there are gaps between the two sides of the front door about half an inch on each side. They run down the whole cabinet. Is that enough ventilation for the gecko? Will this impact humidity?
Should I be watering my plants as well as spraying down the enclosure? Or is the moisture enough?
Anything else I should add to the enclosure? Any advice or experience you have is appreciated!
This is my first build and my first gecko and it was a big project so any heads up would be super appreciated. Thanks!

2023.05.30 22:30 xcataclysmicxx Did Validation Ever Hurt?

First post & kitty haiku time.
Oh sweet little kitty cat, Soft and sweet and cute, Please let me touch the belly.
Today, I finally got the validation that I am not why my childhood was traumatic. I’ve spent years and years knowing that it was my mom that messed me up, however, I also felt that I had way more of a hand in it than I truly did… and honestly, it’s got me a little messed up. It’s got me messed up knowing that someone brought me into this world, only to mold me into exactly what she wanted/needed, with no concern for how I felt about any of it. Ever. This validation came from my therapist, who even went as far as to say “you were practically abused. Nobody deserves that.” When I once again tried to place all the blame on myself. I struggle with making her out to be the monster that she truly kind of is, because I’m afraid of what she may turn around and do. I’ve really had to water myself down throughout life as not to upset her. She would get jealous if I got to experience something as a child that she didn’t and would sabotage it.
For some reason… it doesn’t make me feel better knowing that this wasn’t my fault and that I didn’t deserve any of this, and I don’t know why? I expected myself to feel this giant weight lifted, but now I’m feeling nothing but emptiness, confusion, and sadness. It feels like someone came into my house, made a giant mess, pointed and laughed, and left me to clean it up. I feel like my childhood was a lie.

2023.05.30 22:23 Echvard Americans are soft(no disrespect)

I don’t mean any disrespect or insult but Americans are soft and sometime crybabies. Let me explain. I’m from Iran, where you guys call third world. What we face in our lives is much harder than you guys face and what I see on Reddit is that all the time Americans are nagging and complaining about minimum wage, boomers and right wing politicians ruining their lives. So let’s talk about what we third world people face in our lives. In many countries like mine and Turkey inflation is crazy high. You guys have something like 10 percent inflation. You think you know inflation, but we are born in it, we are molded by it. Every year our income is raised 20% but rent grows 50%, and buying house is a dream! You have established minimum wage and are trying to raise it. Minimum wage is a joke to us. You have established personal freedoms, you can publically drink, date and etc. Maybe someone is mean to you because you are gay, in our world being different from regular norm of society means death by law! Look what happened in Iran some month ago. People lost their lives because of not wearing scarf. Your economic worries are jokes. You have your iPhone, your Starbucks, your Netflix subscriptions that now you are not supposed to share and because of some changes, everybody is complaining. In our world we must work extremely hard to enter your country and begin from zero, we must excel at everything and MAYBE we might get something from life meanwhile you guys are born into what we wish and just need to not make stupid mistakes. For the sake of god wear a condom when you fuck so don’t become a parent at age of 16. Don’t become an addict and study like a regular student, that’s it. You will have a regular normal life, and that regular life that you don’t like, is our dream. Do you think learning a second language is easy? Do think leaving our countries in late 20s and early 30s and beginning from zero is easy? We try to get the minimum of life and work for years to get what you are born to it. So don’t be pussies, appreciate what you have and DON’T MAKE STUPID MISTAKES.

2023.05.30 21:46 nagumi I'm developing a (mini) banana muffin recipe, and need help getting the rise right

So I've been working on this mini banana muffin recipe, and my rise hasn't been consistent or sufficient.
Recipe as it stands now:
Cream bananas in stand mixer, then add egg, yogurt, sugar, cinnamon, coconut oil, salt, baking soda and baking powder. Mix until blended.
Add flour, mix until just blended.
Oil and fill mini muffin tin (currently using a silicone pan). Take a square of milk chocolate and push into the center of each muffin so the chocolate is fully covered with batter.
Bake at 180c for 13 minutes.
Things I have experimented with:
  1. Sprinkle inside of muffin cups with demerara sugar mixed with cinnamon. Gives a nice sugary crisp to muffins, but probably increases friction with the silicone muffin pan.
  2. Oven convection high/normal/off. Increased convection correlates with increased but uneven rise.
  3. I've ordered metal muffin tins for increased heat conduction.
  4. Tried upping the baking powder by 50% - did not seem to change much.
I'm also wondering if increased time between preparation and baking is hurting my rise. I'm not sure, but I think I see that the second batch is rising less. Not sure if this is real or imagined.
Photo: https://imgur.com/a/Rgp9Ql4
Note the demerara sugar+cinnamon mixture along the sides and the uneven rise (due to high convection).
Would love some input.

2023.05.30 21:32 helpmeplsgetjob Is this the cause and solution for many of us?( A long thread but worth looking into)

Ive been on researching about this cause and I think im onto something. I have made a thread perviously but when you do reaserch about this topic, it takes alot of time before you found valuble information since doctors dont know much about this cause and they also brush it off yet its very common.
I know that the cause off bb(bad breath) is diffrent for many but I think alot off uss-this might be cause. Ive made a list for who I think should look into this:
the cause im talking about is black mold. Im thinking that black mold could lead too bb. It started for me when ive accidently found mold in the house, its usally hides and people live with. I dont have the typical symotoms like allergi or respitaory problems( alot of people in the mold community dont have these symtoms. suddenly I found this pages:
Mould in apartment causing candida? Questions about mould exposure and mould removal! at Toxic Black Mold Forum, topic 2336038 (curezone.org)
black mold exposure at Ask CureZone Community, topic 1785726
Mold can cause candida overgroth and also if your unlucky it can cause parasites. But its important too know that candida is a normal part of the body its only when its out of control it is a problem. Also in the USA 50% of homes have hidden mold( the houses are made like paper so leaky roofs are not uncommen): https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=houses+in+usa+are+made+of+paper#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:bfd625ca,vid:wpxLLCdW_Gc
The other reason why I think that mold might be the cause is that 2 sucess stories in here used liposomal glutathion and chlorella too fight bb and they are cured. But for me I went too a natrupath doctor took a test called mytotox profile and they found mold in my body. So thats when I started whith glutathion and all the other supplements. I got a die off symtoms. But you have 2 also go on a diet similar tooo canida diet for maximum result.
But than I found out that since mold is airborne and its in the home floating in air it accumulates in the nose! so its like a colony of mould there, because its soo humid and warm they like it there
mold can either cause bb from nose that leads too past nasal drip or the mold in the lungs causes bb but also mold creats bad envirement so some peopel have probles with digestion and acid reflux.
so thats where I leraned you have too do sinus rinse/neil med and nebulizer. I found a person who told me they used too have bb becuase of the mold in house and he wrote too me what he did so here goes what he said:
I found that fungus was growing in my sinuses after removing a fair amount of black mold from my grandmothers home. It was causing horrible sinus breath too.I started using high quality EVO in my NielMed sinus rinse squeeze bottle. About a Tbs or so. I also began to diffuse tea tree oil and inhale through my nose. I also learned that mycotoxins can reproduce in your blood if your PH becomes too acidic so I started consuming apple cider vinegar and backed off all refined sugars and high carb foods. I did trade out the EVO for avocado oil because it also has strong antibacterial, and antifungal properties
the sinus rinse that I have been using for the last 2 months is half a teaspoon of avocado oil, 6 drops peppermint oil, and three drops tea tree oil. I use pretty warm water for my rinse solution and I often use two packets achieving hypertonic solution. Although the avocado oil is antifungal, antimicrobial and antibacterial, it's crucial as a carrier oil to break up the astringency of the essential oils. Sodium bicarbonate and salt which are in the rinse solution packet are both also antifungal, antimicrobial, and antibacterial but the sodium bicarbonate specifically is one of the most potent candida killers there is.
To attack candida overgrowth in my gut I take oil of oregano pill, oil of peppermint pill, turmeric curcumin with added black pepper extract, olive leaf and tart cherry extract which is made by Nature's Truth. And then I also take apple cider vinegar pills because ACV is super potent against candida overgrowth. I also make a mouthwash that is exactly like the sinus rinse except double the essential oils as well as the avocado oil and I also add a teaspoon of high grade olive oil. I just make about 2 ounces at a time. My mouth and sinuses are so much better I can't hardly believe it and my dental hygienist and dentist were raving about how healthy my gums were looking and no more bad breath.
Also keep in mind when you're starting out with the essential oils in the sinus rinse start out with like 2 to 4 drops total so like maybe two drops of peppermint oil, one drop tea tree oil, half teaspoon to 1 tsp avocado oil then as you get used to the essential oils you can increase them I'm up to about 8 to 10 drops which is probably more than needed but I don't seem to see any detriment.
its very important too not only do sinus rinse because after sinus rinse your gonna feel post nasal drip form the solution so its important too do moith rinse/gargle with herbal oils or perhaps hydrogen peroxide 3% so that mold/bacteria dont accumualtes in the throat. Im not bb-free yet becuase I live in a house with mold and I think it takes time too get rid of it in the nose. also for faster cure I suggest you do sinus rins 3x per day

2023.05.30 21:04 7ransist0r Sins of the (incompetent) father.

My fiancé and I bought a house about 8 months ago, during the buying process we did our due diligence and got a couple inspections, dug into the things that concerned us like foundation and mold ect - everything seemed fine, trust the professionals right?
Once we dug just a LITTLE bit into the surface of this house as far as DIY work goes, we found 50 years of the most baffling decisions I can barely even comprehend. The house was built at the end of the 70’s and was owned by one couple the entire time - and they obviously did all of their own work, aside from when they were falling for every mailbox scam in the industry from gutter guards to vinyl siding. I consider myself pretty robust and experienced when it comes to working on houses - Ive renovated several houses, and have been paid for handyman work for years now - but every time we start a new project on this house theres something insanely wrong that has to be fixed before it can proceed.
Even painting, something simple that everyone does to freshen up a room right? The couple before us had over 100 nail holes in every bedroom. This wouldnt have been terrible to fix ourselves, but at some point they tried to do it - mudding over drywall anchors and nails, or putting MASKING TAPE over small holes, not bothering to sand ANY of it, and then just painting over the clumped up mud and masking tape. This goes for patches too, where 10+ inch holes were covered with multiple overlapping mesh patches, lumped up with mud, and just painted over without even attempting to sand it. I cant comprehend how folks who care about their home enough to fix it can do such a half assed and wrong job. Even if you dont know any better how can you not just look at it and see how terrible it looks.
Sorry for the vent but every aspect of the house has been like this, so much DIWhy it hurts. Has anyone else had problems like this, did it turn out okay in the end?

2023.05.30 21:02 the_cosmovisionist It's our one year anniversary! (OSMOFOLIA anniversary sale & summer release are here~)

We just couldn't wait another day or two—the new release & catalog update are here!
In addition to lots of small updates around the website, there's a lot going on with today's news.
First: the DREAMS AND ACTUALITY collection is now available! These eight scents are intended to evoke the sort of meandering imagination that can only run free in summer—both real and fantastical, floating somewhere between dreams and actuality.
24 HOUR DRIVE: Warm tonka bean, a suede jacket slung over the headrest, a half-rolled spliff spilled all over the backseat, a melted cone of cinnamon vanilla ice cream, and fleeting landscapes illuminated by the sun.
CICADA KID: The relentless, infinite buzz of summer: windswept grass, dandelions pushing through cracks in asphalt, strongly brewed black tea, handfuls of thyme stuffed into raggedy pockets, and a half-eaten bag of marshmallows.
FARM BOY: Rugged terrain dotted by hay bales drying in the sunlight, stacks of chopped cedar, artichokes and lettuce carried by gentle hands, well-worn denim sticky with pine sap, and dreamy, hopeful bergamot.
LOVERS LEAVING HELL: Woodsmoke from a dying bonfire, a pair of lit cigarettes under a starry sky, two warm bowls of vanilla rice pudding, and sweet, yearning kisses of cardamom.
NIETZSCHE'S LYCHEES: A second, dangerous innocence in joy. Sour lychees broken open by hand, sinful black musk, bittersweet chocolate, bone-dry sweetgrass, mushrooms growing amongst tangled roots, and a whisper of sweet osmanthus in the darkness.
REVERIE: Moments spent frolicking in the consciousness of another life. Steamed rice speckled with clove, words swirling off the pages of a book, the lingering haze of imagination, and a marshmallow-soft tumble back down to earth.
SHOTGUN: Dollops of whipped cream speckled with vanilla bean paste, velvety pink peonies, blissfully tart wild strawberries, glowing white amber, and the hiss of a cold metal canister.
TÚ Y YO: Together, and in love: hand-plucked frangipani, featherlight musk, rich dark vanilla bean, powdered sugar, overripe figs simmered in panela, and a slice of fresh angel food cake.
There are also four new single notes joining the spring/summer catalog:
BLACKTOP: Shimmering summer rain evaporating off of hot, sticky asphalt.
LAWN: A sunlit nap on the lawn: a body sinking into cool green turf and fingers tangled with fresh cut grass.
LAZY RIVER: Towels soaked with pool water, and wet, glistening skin drying in the heat.
ORYZA: Fluffy basmatti rice in a warm bowl.
These 12 scents are some of my favorites ever released—many of them were a technical challenge to formulate (long-lasting grass! smoky top notes! rich fruity base notes!) while others pushed me out of my usual style (gourmands are so hard, for real).
They really embody OSMOFOLIA, I think—both philosophical and playful, complex but straightfoward, reflective of a distinct curiosity for the scents of the world around us.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do 🥰
~
With this release, OSMOFOLIA also celebrates the first anniversary of our perfume house!
Our perfumery officially opened in June of 2022, as nothing more than a table at a local market. Over the past year, OSMOFOLIA has grown more than I ever expected it to, and I'm so immensely grateful for that! The ability to share olfactory art with you is a joy and an honor ❤️
To celebrate our first year in business, we have a special anniversary scent!
Folks often ask what OSMOFOLIA's studio smells like—it'd be impossible to bottle the day-to-day aroma, but this scent is a snapshot of what the studio smelled like at a particular moment in time.
And what better theme is there than the inspiration and humdrum of perfumery itself?
OLFACTORIUM: The scented ephemera of a perfume studio, and the clutter of a perfumer at work: an open vial of pink pepper, a fifth cup of coffee, papers of formulae smeared with iso e super, droplets of milk lactone on the bench, a heaping scoop of coumarin, scent strips rich with sandalwood aroma chemicals, and the sweet marshmallowy joy of inspiration brought to life.
The scent's concept is also a balance between fantasy notes (coffee, formulas, paper, marshmallow, scent strips) and individual ingredients (pink pepper, iso e super, milk lactone, coumarin, sandalwood aroma chemicals).
I wanted to showcase these ingredients individually rather than hiding them in a notes list that feels more familiar, because my favorite part of perfumery is developing familiarity with individual materials and learning how to visualize them in larger scents.
I know that might make the scent a bit harder to imagine—but luckily, we've got a way to make it easier to smell. For June, Olfactorium will be the freebie scent in every order! (unless a different scent is explicitly requested)
As another way to pay homage to OSMOFOLIA's beginnings, there is a small anniversary sale—since marshmallow was the note that kicked off my interested in learning to make perfume, all scents with a marshmallow note are 20% off from May 30th to June 14th, with code ANNIVERSARY. :)

A few quick catalog updates:
~
On our shift to new bottles/vials & pricing updates:
All of the individual scent pages have been updated to reflect the new product information. Prices for 5ml bottles have risen to $21.00, and we've changed the style of the bottle (now, it's square!), the caps (they're copper, and they look awesome!), and the labels (no more slippy labels is the goal... plus, updated label art!).
We finished up the last of our case of previous bottles, and the remaining ones were pre-bottled for May. The last call for leftovers is here!
Samples are now offered in 2ml vials, rather than 1ml. 2ml samples now cost $8.00 individually, but sample sets are priced so that each sample is $7.00 (ie, 6 samples x $7 = $42 for a sample set of 6). The vials come with reducer caps to help prevent spillage, too.
Solid fragrances also have updated pricing. Previous batches of solid fragrance were filled with 15g of balm for $15, but newer batches of solid fragrance contain 21g and now cost $20.
Certain solid fragrance scents were restocked more than a month ago, so a 15g/$15 option for those scents will remain on the website until we run out. When they're restocked, they'll switch over to the 21g/$20 offering :)
~
Finally, an update on alcohol format offerings!
Unfortunately, we ran into an issue with the case of bottles, so the release of our alcohol format scents will be delayed until July 1st or so. So sorry to extend the wait!
But I don't want to leave you hanging, so here's some brief info about what's coming:
Our scent lineup includes our most popular scents as well as some new releases:
We aren't covering the entire catalog for a few reasons:
First, certain scents have to be reformulated for an alcohol format. Some ingredients play well with oil but not with alcohol and vice-versa, and we don't want anything to separate out from the rest of the perfume. Reformulating to keep the scents consistent can take time. :)
Second, we have to grow incrementally—we're looking into a larger space to store products, but for now, we can't fit tons of big bottles in the studio.
Third, we don't have the ingredients yet! A larger size and different diluent mean that we need more of each ingredient to make the scent smell just as strong. Increasing the volume of our ingredients will also be an incremental process.
But if you'd like to suggest particular scents (even out-of-season) that you'd love to see in an alcohol format, you can let us know here!
~
Thank you for putting up with this giant update! As always, we're excited to grow with you, and we are very thankful for your patience with all the tinkering :)
Have a warm, relax-under-the-sky kind of day 💕

2023.05.30 21:02 vaydapotata Absolutely terrified to close...normal?

So I close at the end of this week, everything is exactly as i planned in my budget. The finances have all lined up exactly how I want them to. Even better than expected with roughly 3k less in closing costs and 100 less on the monthly mortgage. Heck I will even have close to 30k in the bank after the down payment.

The inspection report came back that everything was really solid except for some minor issues here and there like gutters needing to be re aligned, some wiring updates (already have a quote), lots of cosmetic upgrades, and one wall needs to be removed to check for mold but i have been aware of this the entire time,
Everything is going as planned and I will be moving in towards the end of the month due to personal events....but im still terrified things will go wrong, that ill find something horribly wrong, that i wont move everything in, that i wont have enough after the mortgage payment each month to do anything fun or work on the house.
Does this feeling ever go away? I hope after 2-3 months of being there, paying the mortgage, and understanding my finances it will....but is this just what it means to be a homeowner?

Introduction
Home inspections are a vital part of the real estate process, providing potential buyers and homeowners with a comprehensive assessment of a property’s condition. These inspections aim to identify any existing or potential issues that could affect the safety, functionality, and value of a home.
In recent years, thermal imaging has emerged as a valuable tool in conducting thorough and efficient home inspections. By detecting temperature variations, thermal imaging can uncover hidden problems that may not be visible to the naked eye. In this article, we will explore the importance of thermal imaging in home inspections and how it can benefit both buyers and homeowners.
Understanding Thermal Imaging
Thermal imaging utilizes infrared technology to capture and analyze temperature patterns emitted by objects and surfaces. It works by detecting the infrared radiation emitted by objects, converting it into a visual representation called a thermogram. The resulting image displays variations in temperature, with warmer areas appearing as brighter colors and cooler areas as darker colors.
To perform a thermal inspection, a qualified professional uses a thermal imaging camera. These cameras are equipped with special sensors that can detect and measure infrared radiation accurately. They are designed to capture and interpret temperature variations, allowing inspectors to identify potential issues that may be otherwise hidden from view.
The Importance of Thermal Imaging in Home Inspections
Identifying Hidden Issues
One of the primary reasons thermal imaging is crucial in-home inspections is its ability to detect hidden issues. Many problems, such as insulation deficiencies, air leaks, and moisture intrusion, may not be immediately visible to the naked eye. Thermal imaging can reveal temperature differences that indicate these problems, enabling inspectors to pinpoint their exact locations.
Insulation deficiencies: Inadequate insulation can result in significant energy loss and increased utility bills. Thermal imaging can quickly identify areas with insufficient insulation by detecting temperature variations along walls, ceilings, and floors. This allows homeowners to take corrective measures and improve energy efficiency.
Air leaks and drafts: Air leaks can significantly impact a home’s comfort and energy efficiency. Thermal imaging can reveal gaps and cracks in the building envelope, as well as areas where drafts are entering or escaping. By identifying these issues, homeowners can address them promptly, reducing energy waste and enhancing indoor comfort.
Moisture intrusion and water damage: Moisture intrusion can lead to mold growth, rot, and structural damage. Thermal imaging can detect hidden moisture by identifying cooler areas caused by water absorption or leaks. This early detection allows homeowners to mitigate the damage before it becomes extensive and costly.
Enhancing Electrical Inspections
Electrical issues pose serious safety hazards and are often difficult to detect visually. Thermal imaging can help inspectors identify electrical faults and potential fire hazards by detecting abnormal heat patterns. Overheating electrical components, loose connections, and overloaded circuits can be quickly identified using thermal imaging. This early detection can prevent electrical fires and protect the occupants of the home.
Identifying Plumbing Issues
Thermal imaging can be instrumental in locating plumbing issues that are not immediately apparent. It can detect hidden leaks behind walls, ceilings, or floors by identifying temperature differences caused by moisture. By pinpointing the precise location of leaks, homeowners can minimize water damage and reduce the risk of mold growth.
Thermal imaging is also valuable in evaluating the efficiency of radiant heating systems. It can identify areas of heat loss or malfunctioning components, ensuring optimal performance and comfort within the home.
Detecting Structural Anomalies
Thermal imaging can help uncover structural anomalies that may not be visible during a traditional visual inspection. It can detect heat loss or thermal bridging in walls, windows, and roofs, indicating potential insulation issues or energy inefficiencies. Additionally, thermal imaging can identify foundation cracks or areas of excessive moisture, providing early warning signs of potential structural defects.
📷Advantages of Thermal Imaging in Home Inspections
Thermal imaging offers several advantages over traditional visual inspections in the context of home inspections:
Non-invasive and Non-Destructive: Thermal imaging is a non-invasive and non-destructive method of inspection. It does not require physical contact with the surfaces being examined, minimizing the disruption to the property and reducing the risk of further damage.
Time and Cost Efficiency: Thermal imaging enables inspectors to identify issues quickly and efficiently. It can detect problems that may otherwise require extensive manual investigation or even invasive testing. By streamlining the inspection process, thermal imaging saves both time and costs for homeowners and buyers.
Comprehensive and Accurate Assessments: Thermal imaging provides a comprehensive assessment of a property’s condition. It offers a visual representation of temperature differences, allowing inspectors to identify multiple issues simultaneously. This comprehensive approach ensures a more accurate evaluation of the property’s overall health and helps prioritize repairs and maintenance.
Enhanced Safety and Risk Mitigation: Thermal imaging can identify potential safety hazards such as electrical faults or overheating components. By detecting these issues early on, homeowners can take appropriate measures to address them promptly, minimizing the risk of accidents, injuries, or property damage.
Limitations of Thermal Imaging in Home Inspections
While thermal imaging is a valuable tool, it also has some limitations that need to be considered:
External Factors Influencing Accuracy: External factors, such as weather conditions, can affect the accuracy of thermal imaging. Factors like solar radiation, wind, or reflective surfaces can distort temperature readings and impact the interpretation of the thermograms. Therefore, it is essential for inspectors to consider and account for these factors during the inspection process.
Interpretation Challenges and the Need for Expertise: Thermal imaging requires expertise in interpreting thermograms accurately. Identifying potential issues and distinguishing them from normal temperature variations can be challenging, especially in complex building structures. Inspectors with specialized training and experience in thermal imaging are better equipped to analyze the results accurately.
Limitations in Identifying Certain Issues: Thermal imaging is not a foolproof method for detecting all types of issues. For example, it cannot identify mold or asbestos directly, as they do not emit significant temperature variations. Additionally, certain hidden problems, such as structural defects deep within walls, may not be detectable through thermal imaging alone. Therefore, thermal imaging should be used in conjunction with other inspection techniques to ensure a comprehensive assessment.
Case Studies and Real-Life Examples
To understand the practical applications of thermal imaging in home inspections, let’s explore a few case studies and real-life examples:
Insulation Deficiencies: During a home inspection, thermal imaging identified areas of inadequate insulation in the attic. The temperature variations revealed heat loss, indicating insufficient insulation coverage. This information allowed homeowners to take corrective measures, resulting in improved energy efficiency and reduced utility bills.
Electrical Faults: Thermal imaging detected an overheating electrical component within a wall during an inspection. This early identification enabled the homeowner to address the issue promptly, preventing a potential electrical fire and ensuring the safety of the property.
Hidden Water Damage: In a home inspection, thermal imaging uncovered a hidden water leak in a bathroom wall. The temperature differences detected by the camera indicated moisture intrusion. By locating the precise source of the leak, the homeowner was able to repair the plumbing and prevent further water damage and mold growth.
The Future of Thermal Imaging in Home Inspections
As technology continues to advance, the future of thermal imaging in home inspections looks promising. Here are a few potential developments to look out for:
Technological Advancements and Improvements: Thermal imaging cameras are becoming more compact, affordable, and user-friendly. Ongoing advancements in sensor technology and image processing algorithms are likely to enhance the accuracy and quality of thermal imaging results.
Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Thermal Imaging: Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to revolutionize thermal imaging in home inspections. AI algorithms can be trained to analyze and interpret thermal images, automating the detection of anomalies and improving the efficiency of inspections. Machine learning techniques can help AI systems learn from vast amounts of data, enabling them to identify patterns and abnormalities more accurately over time.
Potential Impact on Home Inspection Standards and Regulations: The increasing adoption of thermal imaging in home inspections may lead to changes in industry standards and regulations. As thermal imaging becomes a more widely accepted and integrated tool, regulatory bodies may update guidelines to include specific requirements for thermal inspections. This could further emphasize the importance of thermal imaging as a standard practice in home inspections.
Conclusion
Thermal imaging has emerged as a valuable tool in modern home inspections, providing insights into hidden issues that may not be apparent during visual inspections. By detecting temperature variations, thermal imaging can identify insulation deficiencies, air leaks, plumbing issues, electrical faults, and structural anomalies. Its non-invasive nature, time and cost efficiency, comprehensive assessments, and enhanced safety benefits make it an essential component of a thorough home inspection.
While thermal imaging has limitations and requires expertise for accurate interpretation, it remains a powerful tool in the hands of qualified inspectors. As technology advances, with the integration of AI and improvements in camera technology, the future of thermal imaging in home inspections holds great promise. It is likely to become an even more integral part of the industry, contributing to improved safety, energy efficiency, and informed decision-making for homeowners and buyers alike.
